The picturesque village of Reedham is situated on the north bank of the River Yare, and has been built on two levels. The lower level, adjacent to the river, houses most of the holiday accommodation and two public houses. Reedham has a population of around 1,200 ( 2011 census) and is a 30 minute drive from Norwich, using the A47 and the B1140.
Things to see and do:
Reedham has a busy quayside, where holiday cruisers are always coming and going. As such a pleasant afternoon can be spent just watching their antics, trying to moor up in the sometimes strong river currents. Pettitts Animal Adventure Park - around a mile from the quay side - is a family adventure park with domestic and exotic animals, kids' rides, live entertainment and a cafe. Reedham has its own train station with direct access to Norwich and Great Yarmouth. As such, you can leave your car behind and take in the sights of the wonderful city of Norwich, or pack the bucket and spade for a day on the beach at Great Yarmouth.
Local pubs, restaurants, cafes
and takeaways:
The Lord Nelson is on the quayside, with a terrace to sit and watch the river traffic. Further towards the rail swing bridge, is
The Ship Inn, which has a wonderful garden overlooking the river, with outside seating. Both pubs offer a full food menu, together with occasional live music. A 20 to 30 minute walk will bring you to
The Reedham Ferry Inn, on the site of the last working chain ferry in Norfolk. It's a fairly large concern, with an extensive food menu.
Cafes and takeaways:
The Post Office Stores Cafe is on the quayside offering hot and cold food, tea and coffee. A fish and chip shop is situated on the upper level of Reedham village.
Other Shops:
A small general store is situated on the upper level of the village, selling all manner of provisions and newspapers. A GP's surgery and integral pharmacy is close by.
