Stalham is a small town, situated 16 miles from Norwich, a 40 minute drive away. It is also very close to the east coast, with the small resorts of Happisburgh and Sea Palling just 12 minutes away by car. Holiday accommodation is available either "in town" or riverside. The population of Stalham is 3,149 according to the last census.
Things to see and do:
The Museum Of The Broads is housed in Stalham and is an interesting hour or so diversion. It depicts life on the Broads right back to Victorian times, with many exhibits both marine and from on land. A definite attraction is the opportunity to sail aboard a Victorian steam launch. More information
HERE. A short drive away is Horsey Gap, which is a well known area for spotting basking seals. The lighthouse at Happisburgh is also a stand-out feature of this area. The bright lights of Great Yarmouth are a 30 minute drive away when it's a bucket and spade sort of day.

The Swan Inn can be found on the High Street, offering a full food menu.
The Grebe, a little further on the opposite side of the road, also has a food menu and hosts live music at weekends.
The Harnser is situated on the Old Yarmouth Road, a little way out of the town centre. It's food is well thought of and hosts live music most Saturdays. The Mermaids Slipper is a fine dining venue located close to Stalham Staithe, and is very popular with locals. It may be wise to book a table in advance. Oasis 2, is an Indian restaurant, just off the High Street.
Cafes and takeaways:
Cafe Charlotte on the High Street, is a welcoming place, offering everything from hot and cold snacks to main meals. Stalham is well served with takeaways, with the town hosting a Chinese, Indian, a kebab house and of course a fish and chip shop.
Other Shops:
The town's retail offering is dominated by the large Tesco Supermarket and filling station, just off the High Street. On the high Street you will find a newsagents, butchers, and a pharmacy. There are no banks, though Tesco do have a cash machine. A GP surgery operates in the town.
