Waxham
Waxham is a tiny village close to the coast. It is adjacent to Sea Palling where it shares a Parish and has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You are a twenty mile drive from Norwich and 13 miles from Great Yarmouth. Together, Waxham and Sea Palling have a population of around 600 inhabitants.
Things to see and do:
Waxham is close to the beach so a day on the dunes will delight the kids. Walk along towards Horsey Gap and you may be rewarded with the sight of basking seals, which congregate here. Five miles away is the village of Hickling and its Broad. This really is a pretty village with thatched roof cottages lining the street. You can hire a self-drive dayboat from the Whispering Reeds boatyard, which will allow you to explore much of the unspoilt waters above Potter Heigham, where the low bridge cuts off most of the river traffic. Expect to see kingfishers, heron, cormorants, grebe and all manner of waterfowl. The England Coastal Path runs through here from Sea Palling to Hunstanton, much of it through the Designated Area of Natural Beauty. Potter Heigham is a boating centre, 8 miles away, where you can easily spend an hour or two just watching the skill of the pilots taking cruisers through the impossibly tight low arched bridge. After that explore Lathams Discount Store which is adjacent to the bridge.

In adjacent Sea Palling is Reefs Bar, which faces the beach. It is open year round and has a good selection of food on offer. Live music is hosted from visiting bands throughout the year.
